This plugin is a hacking tool basically
I got a message from my hosting provider today that a regular malware check found a trojan in one of the php files belonging to this plugin:
{CAV}Win.Trojan.Hide-1 : /home/(edited_out)/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-file-manager/lib/files/FecCff.php
We DID NOT install this plugin, the hosting provider said this was probably because something on the site was out of date and that allowed a hacker to get in, and he/she most likely installed this plugin since it gives them access to basically all the files on the server and they used this plugin to even change the password for the cPanel login.
I’m sorry to say but it looks like this plugin should not exist, or at least not be available to the general public.
I don’t need any help, i just need this plugin to not exist anymore.
virus
I got this message from godaddy wherein this domain is hosted:
“As i said the problem is your website is infected with Malware, which is a type of virus. It requires a technical person to solve it. You can use the wordpress forums for help.”
and i noticed that this happened after installing this Yoast SEO plugin …
is there something that you can look into ?
unwanted images added in media library
Hey, i wonder if there might be a bug or a virus or something peculiar going on as each time I make a new page on my wp site, a new image with same name as the page appears in media library…this image seems to be taken from the internet somewhere as it is nothing i have uploaded to the media library myself. The image then mystically appears on the page just on top of all the photos i want to show up….
I can erase the image in the media library but it comes back!
What is going on?!!!
Alfa-Shell by ALFA TEAM/solevisible (adminow) – How to remove wordpress virus?
I’m desperate for this damn invasion on my wordpress site. It is already the fourth time and the next time the server said it will block my account.
https://www.trendmicro.com/en_us/research/19/l/looking-into-attacks-and-techniques-used-against-wordpress-sites.html
It creates the adminow user (administrator) outside the wordpress panel (and Wordfence alerts me, but can’t prevent the creation)
Then he adds this plugin in wordpress (wp file manager – yellow icon):
https://br.wordpress.org/plugins/wp-file-manager/
And finally, it creates several folders on my server with viruses (alfa-team, sg, tmb, quarentine, wp-info.php) that google then blocks as a deceptive website in chrome (red screen, pishing)
I have wordfence installed and the plugin to update every theme, wordpress, core and plugins automatically. Everything checked, no plugin or outdated theme, I changed all admin passwords, mysql, installed wp-hidden urls, but yesterday it invaded again. Next time, the server will ban my account. Anyone else with this damn hacker problem?
PS: I have 5 wordpress sites on this server, only 2 of which are hacked. And I have wordpress sites on other servers that have never been hacked, even with outdated wordpress and no wordfence and old plugins. I never use nulled plugins and even keeping these 2 sites updated are still being hacked.
PHP VERSION 7.3 or 7.4 in all sites
Suggestions, please?
Config wp, config server, security plugins, security actions?
Thank you!

WP File Manager Malware

Internal Server Error
I have been struggling with this for weeks, and would greatly appreciate any help. When I do a google search on my website, www.bozwellz.com, I get an internal server error. It took weeks but I finally got ahold of someone from google, and they said it wasn’t them, I needed to call godaddy. So I called godaddy, and they said I have a virus on my site, but for $300 they would clean it, and so on and so forth. I downloaded Wordfence and ran it, it cleaned up some items and says everything is now clear, but I’m still getting an internal server error.
We are a small restaurant, in a small town, badly hit by the pandemic and have been closed (curbside, delivery only) for months. Not being able to be found on google is going to be a killing blow. Is there anyone that can help? Do I need to tweak settings on Wordfence? Is there another type of software I need to install, or do I really have to shell out $300 to godaddy?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
thank you
carrie

Beware – there’s something malicious going on with this plugin
I can’t seem to get rid of this plugin. I never installed it to begin with, but it keeps mysteriously showing back up in my plugins. There’s clearly a malware related issue with this plugin. Does anyone know how to prevent this plugin from getting installed again?
Malware in the last version
When upload your official plugin with cPanel there is an alert
“Il file caricato, optinmonster.zip, contiene un virus, pertanto il caricamento è stato annullato: YARA.SP_41_20190221_php_malware.UNOFFICIAL FOUND”
is real there are some malware in the code…

Malware “Attention! Your browser is out of date! Update?”
Hello team,
Recently I discover something unusual when, as a user, visit my website, it pops up a window notification saying “Attention! Your browser is out of date! Update?” and the buttons to accept or dismiss, after clicking accept it downloads a suspicious file (my browser detects it as dangerous and blocks it).
I uploaded a backup from a week ago (the older I have) but the problem still there.
I checked out my website’s files via FTP but at first sight I couldn’t detect the “inflected” file
This is happening in all browsers I’ve checked.
Any idea where this problem can be?
Thanks.
Is my website get virus ?
In some of my pages, I have a downloadable file with simple tracker which write the count and the IP address to a file count.txt.
There are many times a similar IP address which are in the count.txt
For example : [ SNIP! ] and many other similar.
When I check with online geolocation,
it say the IP address is a threat SPAM.
[ SNIP! ]
My question:
If yes that my website is attacked by virus, how do clean it within WordPress ?
Or is this a matter which I should ask my web hosting company ?
Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advanced.
AVOID like a VIRUS
minus 5 stars – This was easily the worst experience I’ve had with a wordpress plugin in 15 years. From the start it was asking for credit card details under the guise some some bs spam thing / verification – really so it can easily bill you later. Luckily I used a virtual one time card for verifacation.
I’m pretty experienced at installing plugins but from the get go it was already installing its own SEO plugin. I’ve already got SEO framework working great, set up the way I want it. Deleted their SEO plugin and hopefully I don’t think its affected my SEO framework settings.
I really just wanted a simple pop up and was getting the tables turned on me by the most aggresive plugin I’d encountered, felt more like dealing with a virus. Next it had its own Google analytics installed by forced default. Uninststalling this broke the permissions for the Official Google Site Kit that I already had and was happy with. I had to reset this and reconnect.
Needless to say I didn’t go any further, this plugin actually scared me, i wouldn’t be surprised if it would be stealing my data, deleted the one time virtual credit card and just started to read all the one star revies to know I made the right decision. I don’t even know why this plugin is alowed on the wordpress repository. I’ve never experienced anything like this in my life with wordpress – shocking avaoid – Now I’m off to spend another 30 minutes making sure its not changed anything else and checking my Google account is secure.
